Steem utilizes blockchain technology to directly connect publishers and creators to their audience, without a need for a median. Steem seeks to empower these publishers and creators by making it easier for them to make money on their content. This token allows them to create a platform that doesn’t rely on ads, which are dying out, and third parties, which take from their profits. Unlike any other token, it uses “proof-of-brain” to encourage the creation of content. The token is distributed based on upvotes, or “likes”, and the content creator is paid based on the quality of his content.
