Dogecoin currency began as a joke of the internet meme of the Shiba Inu dog or ‘doge’. The joke accumulated a lot of attention and resulted in market cap of millions of dollars. It is a simple decentralized peer to peer digital cash used by a community of vibrant crypto enthusiasts. The coin is merge mined with Litecoin which means that the hashing power of LTC operates the DOGE network. There is no production limit for this currency. Despite its origin, the coin has held some legitimacy as it was used for Ethereum’s Rinkeby testnet to help with ETH’s scalability problem. The test was nicknamed ‘dogeetherum bridge’ which was the first production for truebit technology.
