Aurora is created to represent a smart contract platform that offers execution of the specific smart contracts promptly. Aurora can directly compete with large smart contract platforms similar to ethereal due to their consensus technology (DPOS), which enables nearly instant transaction speed rates and also lets a vast number of transactions process within seconds, unlike Ethereum. The Aurora main net launched in the summer of 2018, and transaction speeds are roughly 2000 per second, which is on par with the EOS blockchain.
