Aelf is a customized operating system made specifically for blockchains. The team quotes it as the “Linux system” of the blockchain community. Aelf focuses on side chains and a unique governance system as a way to solve the current problem with blockchain technology. The use of side chains segregates resources and smart contracts to improve scalability while using a Proof-of-Stake system for adaptable governance. The system fees of transactions, data transfers, and smart contracts are paid in ELF tokens. There was no ICO for Aelf, and instead used private investors, which launched in December of 2017.
